Baltimore Linebackers Coach Ted Monachino, whose parents are Ono and Nancy from Laddonia, was named the new Defensive Coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts last week.
Monachino accepted the job and will join former Baltimore Ravens’ Defensive Coordinator Chuck Pagano, who is the current Colts head coach.
Monachino, who has been with the Ravens since 2010 and won a Superbowl with the team in 2013, was considered by many as the next in line for the starting Defensive Coordinator position in Baltimore, which is currently held by Dean Pees.
“We agreed to allow him to go be the defensive coordinator in Indianapolis,” said Baltimore Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh in a press conference. “That’s a great opportunity for him. It speaks to the quality of the guys that we have.”
He previously served as a coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars before reuniting with his former collegiate player Terrell Suggs, who he coached at Arizona State.
His parents live in Laddonia while Ted Monachino also has sisters who live in the area.
Ono Monachino said the family is excited for Ted’s opportunity and will be soon buying Colts’ NFL gear to add to their collection.
He also said the family will likely still cheer on the Ravens as they have come to grow fond of the many players they met in the organization.
