Susan Paden has announced that she will be filing in February for Audrain County Eastern District Commissioner.
Being a lifetime resident of Audrain County, she has had a passion to serve the residents in a county office. With the retirement of the current commissioner, she feels it is the perfect time to step-up.
“I know there will be challenges to deal with, and there is a budget to balance every year. Economic growth is always important for any community to survive. Keeping this county on solid footing and maintaining and improving our roads and bridges will be of utmost importance to me,” stated Paden in a press release.
The past 28 years Susan has been employed at the Missouri Veterans’ Home in Mexico and for the last 15 years as the Supervisor of Volunteer Services. “I have enjoyed working with the Veterans, co-workers, individuals, and organizations on a daily basis,” states Paden. With her past work experience, she feels it will benefit her position as Commissioner. Her everyday duties while working for the Veterans have involved fundraising events, grant writing, and lots of contact with individuals and organizations as volunteers and supporters of the facility.
Susan is married to Walter Paden and they have three children, Jennifer (Jeremy) Baird, Eric (Kate) Paden, and Elaine Paden and fiancé Brian Blackburn. They have five grandchildren, Ross, Owen, Addison, Chase and Carter. Susan is the daughter of Ronald and Virginia Baker, of Mexico.
Her community involvement consist of former 4-H member, volunteer leader, Audrain County Fair Board and Extension Council, a member of Mexico Elks Lodge No. 919, Elder and Clerk of Session, at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, a member of Mexico Noon Lions Club which she has held several offices and is currently the district zone chair, a member of Altrusa International of Mexico and is currently the Vice-President of the Relay For Life Steering Committee, Survivor and Dinner Auction Co-Chair and Girls Night Out Team Member, and a member Audrain County Shelter Resource Coalition (RAI) Committee
“I look forward to introducing myself and serving to help meet the needs of the county in the future” she said.
