Vandalia area residents have enjoyed a so-called “supermoon” the last few evenings as the moon has been large and bright in the night sky. November’s full Beaver Moon, or “supermoon,” is the second of three such moons in 2016. The “supermoon” was seen October 16, November 14, and will be lighting up the sky again on December 14. According to Bob Berman, an astronomer from the Slooh Community Observatory, this is the closest and brightest moon of 2016 and the largest since 1948. It’s reported the moon won’t be this close again until November 25, 2034.
