During Catholic School Week, St. Joseph Catholic School in Martinsburg held a number of educational events. The week began as students went to the Martinsburg American Legion Hall and learned the proper way to dispose of flags.
They were also treated to donuts and milk with the veterans and dressed in red, white and blue or camo for the day.
On Wednesday, students heard from three speakers.
Jean Becker via Zoom about her job as Barbara Bush’s press secretary and President George Bush’s chief of staff as well as about the books she recently completed.
Ed Wieberg presented slides about his Consolidated Electric Coop trip to Haiti in which he took parts and tools and worked on trucks that helped Haiti to have electricity.
Nurse Practitioner Jennifer Hunn spoke about how her career has evolved through working within a Catholic setting.
On Scrabble Day, students dressed like something with the same letter as their name, made edible rosaries and formed a living rosary. Big shots and little squirts also worked on crafts another day.
