Van-Far Elementary School hosted a “Rainbow Days by the Lunchbox” last Friday. The event, which was sponsored by OPAA, was made possible due to grants provided by the Department of Health and Senior Services to get kids to eat more fruits and vegetables.
According to the state department’s website, Rainbow Day events are a “fun way to market salad bars in elementary schools by providing different fruits and vegetables with a variety of color and adding adventure to the lunch period. A chart entitled “I Made a Rainbow at the Salad Bar today” showed students the unique variety of foods available at a salad bar.
A similar event was held one day earlier at Van-Far Jr./Sr. High School.
