Several area residents took a tour of the new SSM Health Urgent Care in Mexico during an Open House held this past Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon. Donna Jacobs, President of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Audrain, was among a group of several SSM employees on-hand for the event.
The list includes Kim Menefee (Director of Audrain Clinic Operations for the Audrain Medical Group, Urgent Care Director), Beth Schmidt (Physician Services Manager), Diane Hagedorn (Physician Services Manager), Kenny Morse (Clinic Nurse), and Bonnie Zeigler (Radiologic Technologist).
Refreshments were provided and door prizes were also awarded.
The clinic is located at 3626 S. Clark, Suite C, in Mexico.
Its hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
There are plans in place to extend hours to seven days a week by the middle of 2016.
The new office bridges the gap between the regular primary care office and the Emergency Department.
Minor injuries and illnesses may require an X-ray, stitches, or antibiotics, but they may not necessarily need an Emergency Department visit.
SSM Health Urgent Care is staffed by trained providers, who work with the physicians of SSM Health Medical Group and SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital–Audrain, to provide a convenient alternative if the patient’s regular doctor is unable to get them in right away.
Patients may be seen for workplace injuries and sports injuries, including concussion. SSM Health Urgent Care uses the SCAT 3 and Impact Concussion Protocols, which are also used by Mexico Public Schools.
No appointment is necessary and walk-ins are welcome. The clinic accepts most insurance plans.
