James D. Minor, II and Stephanie Renee’ Sparks, both of Mexico, united in holy matrimony at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at the First Baptist Church in Mexico, Mo.
Minister Bob Hoehn, of Spencer Creek Baptist Church in Vandalia, conducted a double ring ceremony.
Sparks is the daughter of Barry and Crystal Sparks of Vandalia, and Minor II is the son of Martha Minor of Vandalia.
The bride wore a (Mori Lee) ivory gown with elaborate embroidery, sparkling bead overlays, a strapless bodice with cinched draping shaping the hips, and waterfall draping cascades onto the full skirt with an extra long chapel train.
Flowers were fresh cream calla lilies, ivory roses, and white stephanotis with clear crystals complimenting the bouquet. The bride’s attendants were Julie Stevenson of Wellsville, Mo., as the Matron of Honor; Brynna Keeton of St. Louis, Mo.; Lindsey Yancey of Laddonia; and Amanda Reading of Vandalia.
The groom’s attendants were Eric Minor of Mexico, as Best Man; Quinlen Minor of Columbia, Mo.; Brian Sparks of Vandalia; and Aaron Welch of Laddonia.
Ushers for the ceremony included David Minor, of Vandalia; Kevin Sydenstricker, of Palmyra, Mo.; and Adam Sparks, of Washington, Mo.
The flower girl was Kendyn Minor, daughter of Eric Minor and Chandy Lortie of Mexico, Mo.
The ring bearer was Dylan Hamm, son of Willie and Tricia Hamm of Columbia, Mo.
Program Attendants for the ceremony were Sarah and Claire Motley, of Vandalia.
The bubble girls were Macy Hamm of Columbia, Mo., and Rebecca Motley of Vandalia.
Music was performed by Sharon Hoehn (pianist) of Vandalia; Donald Gibson (organist), of Vandalia; Brian Hummel, of Vandalia, and Meridith Lynn, of Joplin, Mo. (duet vocalists). The group performed “I Just Call You Mine” by Martina McBride.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the 4-H Center in Mexico. The reception meal was catered by Mr. John Berkbuegler and company of Hallsville, Mo. The cake was 4-tiered and iced with ivory, and buttercream icing. Each layer was adorned with designs in white icing. The third layer was embellished with a brooch with sage green ribbon. The Cake topper was an ivory glitter monogrammed letter M. The guest book attendant was Megan Sparks of Washington, Mo.
The bride was a 2002 graduate of Van-Far High School in Vandalia. She graduated from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo., with a bachelor’s degree in elementary and middle school education in 2006. She is currently completing Masters of Education in elementary administration degree from William Woods University in Fulton, Mo. She works as a 3rd grade teacher at Centralia Intermediate School in Centralia, Mo. The groom was a 1995 graduate of Van-Far High School in Vandalia. He works as a safety supervisor for Archer Daniels Midland Company in Mexico.
The couple now resides in Mexico.
