Six different Van-Far/Community R-VI football players earned All-EMO Conference honors for their performance during this past season where the Indians finished with a 5-6 record.
The Indians were led by Nick Barnes, who was an unanimous selection as a first team punter.
During the year, Barnes had 29 punts for 1,307 yards for a 45.06 yards per punt average. His average was the fifth highest total by a player in a single season in state history. The state record was set by Wright City’s Steven Jones in 2007 with 47.70 yards per punt average.
Sharrod Connor received first team honors as a defensive back. He had 81 total tackles, four interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and three pass break-ups.
Senior Conner Albrecht was the team’s lone player to receive honors on both sides of the ball.
He earned second team, All-EMO Conference honors as a running back.
Surprisingly, Albrecht didn’t receive first team honors as a linebacker in spite of having the second highest total of tackles in the conference.
Albrecht made the second team after a season with 145 total tackles, seven tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
Senior quarterback Lucas Robinson earned second team honors in his position after successfully running and passing for more than a 1,000 yards.
He completed 112-of-182 passes for 1,492 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also tallied 182 carries for 1,131 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns. This gave him 2,623 total yards and 23 total touchdowns.
Jamie Householder had a successful year as a returner and earned second team honors.
Andrew Snodgrass earned second team honors for his role on the offensive line. Surprisingly, Jacob Garner (70 tackles, one tackle for loss, one force fumble, one fumble recovery, one blocked kick), Anthony Fairchild (67 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, and one fumble recovery), and no receivers earned any honors.
