Shoemates honored

Edward and Shirley Shoemate  were honored with a buffet supper at the Junction Restaurant on May 11.

The Shoemates were united in  marriage on May 11, 1963 at the Christian Church in Farber, Mo. by Rev. Earl Wayne Ferguson. In attendance were Ruth Beabout, sister of the bride and Virgil Beabout brother-in-law of the bride.

They have one son, Steve Shoemate of Perry, Mo. and one daughter, Lisa Williams of Vandalia, Mo.

They have two grandchildren, Emily Williams of Vandalia, Mo. and Sam Williams of Caddo Mills, Texas.

Shirley is the daughter of the late Delores and Amos Blake of Laddonia, Mo. Edward is the son of the late Katherine and Webb Shoemate of Farber, Mo.

Shirley is retired from Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia, Mo. having worked there from 1972-1976 and 1999-1010 as a CMT and from Twain Haven Care Center in Perry from 1976-1999 as a dietary aid and dietary supervisor. Edward is retired after 36 years at the North American Refractories that was located in Farber, Mo.

He held many titles, brick setter, two motor operator, and tunnel and bell kiln operator ending his time as an industrial electrician.

They enjoy time spent with friends and family and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
