Sewing Group meets in Laddonia at church

Posted on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11:25 am

The Laddonia Presbyterian Church Sewing Group meets each week for three hours. Members of the group are June Erdel, Judy Britton, Claudine Lybarger, and Debbie Niffen. Mabel Busdieker lends a helping hand by always being ready to give encouragement and advice. We worked at least 600 hours for the year. In 2016, we donated quilts to the “Festival of Sharing, Post Offenders Fundraiser (in Hannibal, Mo.), the Laddonia Athletic Association, Community Betterment Auction, and the Vandalia Mo. Modern Maturity Fundraiser. We also gave a quilt to a member who had heart surgery. Because all of our fabric is donated, we are able to hire our quilting done, so we set a value of $200 per quilt for a total of $1,000 per year. The women of the church sponsor a Valentine project at which we delivered 19 Valentine plates of fruit to shut-ins. Marcella Roethemeyer oversees the buying of the fruit. Those helping with the delivery of the fruit plates were Dan and June Erdel, Judy Britton, Marcella Roethemeyer, and Jim and Ann Teague. We also sent out 23 Valentine cards made by Judy Britton to former members. On the first Sunday of each month, we have a birthday/anniversary offering time and at the end of this year, our offering amount came to $100. We send this offering to the Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services here in Missouri.
