Rural roundabout construction begins

Posted on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 3:52 pm

Roundabout construction will begin soon at Scott’s Corner in front of Community R-VI School District.

Drivers can expect to see a lot of activity in Audrain County on U.S. Route 54 at Scott’s Corner as construction of a rural roundabout is scheduled to begin this week.
S&A Equipment and Builders was awarded the contract by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission last month for $2.4 million. The completion date for the project is Sept. 13, with the roundabout to be open to traffic by Aug. 12.
A public informational meeting will be held from 5-7 p.m., May 15 at Community R-VI, with Missouri Department of Transportation representatives. They will be available to answer questions about construction, as well as provide general information about how a rural roundabout works.
The contractor began installing traffic control devices, placing erosion control measures and close the commuter lot May 6 to prepare for clearing the area where the roundabout will be constructed.
“Very little disruption to traffic is expected during construction, however; the closure of the commuter lot will remain permanent” stated Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Brian Haeffner, P.E.
MoDOT will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media. For more information, call MoDOT at 888-ASK-MODOT (275-6636) or visit to receive the latest statewide news and text alerts, signup for e-updates.
