The Rotary GSE Team from New Zealand commemorates ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) Day with a wreath at the Veterans Memorial on the lawn of the Vandalia Library.
Observed on April 25 each year, ANZAC Day was begun originally to honor the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who fought at Gallipoli against the Ottoman Empire during World War I.
This was the first military campaign that led to major casualties for Australia and New Zealand forces in WWI.
Today, it is a national day of remembrance that commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations as well as the contribution and suffering of all those who have served.
This is the 100th anniversary of this observance.
