Ron Starman age 55, of Rockport, Ill., passed away Tuesday May 27, 2014 at the Pike County Memorial Hospital.
Memorial visitation was held Friday, May 30, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home.
Ronald was born April 6, 1959, in Louisiana the son of John Leroy and Lois Carr Starman. On April 22, 1977 in Barry, Ill., he married Carla Crook. She survives.
Other survivors include: mother Lois Starman, Louisiana; son Kyle Starman, Rockport, Ill.; daughter Kayla Starman, Hannibal; two brothers John Starman Jr. and friend Nikki McCulley, of Louisiana, Robert Starman and wife Toni Clarksville; two sisters Sue Griffith and husband Warren, Battlefield, and Pamela Stoddard and husband Randy, Republic; many nieces, nephews and his special dog Harlee.
He is preceded in death by his father and close uncle Art Starman.
Ron grew up in Louisiana, graduated from Louisiana High School in 1977, and lived in the Twin Pike County area all of his life. He worked at PCMH for over 25 years in maintenance where he became the supervisor. He also worked at NECC men’s and WERDCC women’s facility obtaining rank of Captain. Ron enjoyed all forms of sports including working, coaching and mentoring kids. He also enjoyed rescuing dogs and cats, woodworking and gardening.
