Robert Newell Moss, 83, of Vandalia, passed away at 1:34 a.m., November 16, 2014 at Pin Oaks Nursing Home in Mexico.
He was born March 20, 1931 in Perry, the son of John E. and Pauline Newell Moss. He was married to Josephine Graves on June 1, 1950 in Hannibal and she survives.
Other survivors include: four sons, Monte (Teresa) Moss, James Moss, and Jack Moss, all of Vandalia, and Larry (Mary Beth) Moss of Suntana, Arizona; two daughters, Donna Warden of Mexico, and Denise (David) Kemp, of Vandalia; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: two sons, Bobby Eugene Moss and David Wayne Moss; two granddaughters, Melissa Lippelman and Brandy Ball; and one great grandson, Nathaniel Moss.
Mr. Moss was a lifetime area resident and Christian by faith. He grew up attending Center Schools.  He served in the U.S. Army from July 2, 1952 until April 29, 1953 and attained the rank of Private Second Class. He worked at International Shoe Co., the brick plant, farmed and he and his wife owned the local motel for fourteen years. He enjoyed cattle trading and going to the casino.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Bienhoff Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
