In four Thursdays, Vandalia area residents will be entertained with the first of a five free concert events this summer at the downtown parking lot just off Main St.
The “Music On Main” Summer Concert Series begins on the fourth Thursday in May with a May 28 concert featuring the group “Riverside with Clayton Tyler.”
“Riverside with Clayton Tyler” will perform at 6 p.m. A concession stand will be run by the chamber to help fund the event.
“Riverside with Clayton Tyler” plays classic and modern rock, blues, and modern country music.
According to their Facebook page, the group includes Steve Brookshier (Bass), Mark Butler (Lead Guitar), Mark Raufer (Drums), Tim Clark (Lead Guitar), Louis Clark (Keyboard Player), and Clayton Tyler (New Lead Singer).
“Madd Hoss Jackson” is scheduled to perform on Thursday, June 25.
The group plays a mix of country, rock, 80s, 90s, and a few of their own selections.
“Madd Hoss Jackson” features Jim Jennings (Drums, Vocals), Matt Bullard (Guitar, Vocals), Andy Ham (Guitar, Fiddle, Vocals), and Mark Behymer (Bass, Keys, Vocals).
Performers for Thursday, July 23 and Thursday, August 27 have yet to be announced.
The final concert will take place as the evening concert during Prairie Days in September.
Those attending the Concert Series are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
The upcoming Concert Series is the continuation of a busy year for the chamber.
A Trivia Night featuring a max of 28 teams was held in February.
The chamber also sponsored the All-Town Garage Sale this past weekend. At the four-way, chamber members collected money for its annual scholarship with every penny raised going towards scholarships. The chamber awarded two scholarships last year.
