Rick Santorum dominates GOP primary in Missouri

GOP candidate Rick Santorum shocked the nation last Tuesday night by sweeping GOP primaries and caucuses held in Missouri, Minnesota, and Colorado. Official up-to-the-minute results were provided by The Vandalia Leader last week through Missouri TXT Alerts, on Twitter @VandaliaLeader, Facebook, and on the website at www.vandalialeader.com.
With 100-percent of the precincts reporting in Missouri, Santorum received 55-percent of the vote with 138,957 total votes. Mitt Romney took second with 25-percent of the vote or 63,826 votes while Ron Paul placed third with 30,641 votes for 12-percent of the vote. Santorum won every county in the state.
In area county primaries, Santorum dominated the field.
He won Audrain County with 60.6-percent of the vote, he took Montgomery Co. with 58-percent,  made the most of his Hannibal visit to get Marion County with 64.9-percent of the vote, won Callaway County with 62.9-percent, took Pike County with 64.7-percent, and easily won Ralls County with 75-percent of the vote.
President Barack Obama easily won the Democratic Primary with 88.3-percent of the vote or 64,388 total votes. James Orland Ogle III won the Libertarian vote at just 52.7-percent.
