Richard F. Dyer, 86 of West Plains formerly of Bowling Green passed away on June 4, 2013 in West Plains.  Graveside services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Millwood.   Visitation was held Saturday from 12 p.m. until time of graveside services at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex.
Mr. Dyer was born on Oct. 1, 1926 in Silex, the son of Guy Francis and Gertrude (Dwyer) Dyer.
He is survived by children Martha (Chris) Yarbrough of Rolla, Kathleen (Richard) Koppitz of Springfield, and Debbie (Charlie) Romans of West Plains;  21 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; sister Melva Lavery of Cleveland, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.  Later in life he married Gertrude Kearns in Bowling Green and she preceded him in death, also preceding in death were his in parents and two sisters Mildred  and Myrtle Moellering.
After graduating  Silex High School, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII.  He married Barbara L. Edwards and they made their home in Long Beach, Calif. where he worked as a heavy equipment operator and raised their family before moving to Bowling Green where he worked at Dundee Cement Company.   Richard enjoyed collecting coins, fishing, hunting and camping.
Pallbearers were Brian, Matt and Chris Koppitz, Lucas and Quentin Romans and Mark Scruggs.
