LADDONIA-Services for Rheva Elaine Griggs, 81, of Vandalia, will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2013 at Bienhoff Funeral Home, Laddonia, with Reverend Nathan Detmer officiating. Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Griggs passed away at 2:06 p.m. July 25, 2013 at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.
She was born January 23, 1932 in Vandalia, the daughter of Joe and Ethyl Jackson Righter.
She was married to Joe Griggs on June 10, 1950, in Vandalia,  and he survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Eddie (Marilyn) Griggs of Cosby, and Kevin Griggs of Vandalia; two sisters, Fern Hanson and Gloria McKinney, both of Vandalia; four grandchildren, Karin Goethe of Overland Park, Kan., Karla Hausman of Kansas City, Aaron Evans of Moberly, and Lance Evans of Sullivan; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Jean Evans; and five sisters, Emma Pease, Lois Landers, Betty Goodman, Billie Williams, and Villa Graves.
Mrs. Griggs was a lifetime area resident and homemaker. She was a 1949 graduate of Vandalia High School.
She was a member of both the First Christian Church and Bible Holiness Church in Vandalia. She was a seamstress and inspector at Bobbie Brooks, Handi Top and Cal Jac.
She enjoyed cooking, knitting and baby sitting in her home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church or the Bible Holiness Church in Vandalia.
Pallbearers will be Gary Pease, Quentin Landers, Justin Landis, J.D. Landis, Virgil Lee Girard, and Garrett Graves.
