A Retirement Reception was held last Tuesday for E. Ray Hall, who stepped down after 17 years as the Director for the Mexico-Audrain County Library District. The reception was held at the Mexico headquarters.
Hall received thanks from his colleagues for his service to the district.
He was then presented a Missouri State proclamation from Sen. Jeanie Riddle and Rep. Jay Houghton.
Hall also received a plaque from the district.
“I appreciate all of you coming, I appreciate your attendance, I appreciate the friendship of so many of you and it doesn’t seem like (it’s been) 17 years,” Hall said to those who attended the reception.
He said he had fun during his tenure.
Hall added that he enjoyed telling colleagues at out of area meetings that he had the best staff in the state.
He recognized his friend Paul White, who attended the reception. He was also thankful for the friendship and support of his library board.
Christal Bruner has been hired to take over as the interim director.
Hall handed over his library keys to Bruner during the reception.
“I’m just certain that the library is in excellent hands,” he added.
“Staff, you’ve got an excellent leader. Enjoy her, support her, encourage her and don’t worry you’ll be seeing me around.”
