Some of the rain totals being shared throughout the county recently have made many residents shake their heads in disbelief.
Vandalia farmer Raymond McDonald has been keeping track of rain totals on his farm, located approximately eight miles south of downtown.
He began tracking the rain on May 7 and wrote down his 32nd day of rain on July 10.
His totals show that the Vandalia area has received 32.7 inches of rain. His highest total came on June 21 when his property received 3.8 inches of rain in one day.
Vandalia had another 3 inches on June 26 and had four other days with at least 2 inches of rain.
Audrain County Emergency Management Director Steve Shaw said he looked at the National Weather Service to see that Audrain County ha had 32.6 inches of rain in 39 days.
He added that the area has exceeded the ‘93 levels.
