Community R-VI’s Bobby Jett goes up for a shot on Senior Night against his father Ken Jett’s team, Silex. The Trojans picked up a 14-point win.

The Community R-VI Trojans picked up their eighth win of the season on Senior Night as they knocked off former coach Ken Jett and his Silex Owls, 56-42.
The Trojans’ defense held the Owls to just 12 first-half points to go up eight at halftime.
The Trojans then outscored Silex 36-30 in the second half to win the game by 14.
“Defensively, we played pretty well,” said Community R-VI head coach Matt Thomas. “We got a lot more pressure on them late to turn them over and converted it to points.”
Cordell Hollensteiner led the Trojans with 17 points after scoring 13 of his points in the second half.
Eric Hombs had 14 points; Bobby Jett scored 10 points; Blaze Escamilla added seven points; and both Taryn Kuda and Evan Hartsock had four points.
The Trojans also had a tough EMO Conference loss against a solid Montgomery County squad, 71-31.
The Wildcats led 42-17 at halftime and never looked back in the 37-point loss for the Trojans.
Jett scored a team-high 15 points after nailing three 3-pointers.
Hollensteiner added 11 points; Escamilla scored five points; both Jaryn Kuda and Hombs had two points; and Hartsock scored one point.
“Montgomery is really good,” Thomas said. “They came out and hit a lot of shots early and put us in a deep hole.”
