The Community R-VI Trojans lost a pair of EMO Conference games to Clopton and Wellsville last week.
The Trojans started with a second half collapse in the 60-42 loss to Clopton.
Clopton led 17-7 at the end of the first quarter before the Trojans rallied to close the gap to just three points at halftime.
Unfortunately, the Hawks outscored the Trojans 36-21 in the second half and held on for the 18-point win.
Clopton won the rebounding battle, 19-10.
Bobby Jett scored a team-high 16 points and one assists while Anthony Fairchild added eight points and three rebounds.
Gage Graves had eight points and one rebound; Matt Gastler added four points and two rebounds; Cordell Hollensteiner was held to just four points; and Gatlin Curtis had two points and two rebounds.
Defensively, Fairchild and Gastler each had seven deflections/tips.
Losing to Wellsville
The Trojans were hoping to spoil Wellsville/Middletown’s Homecoming festivities last Friday night.
They started the game by outscoring the Tigers 18-6 in the first quarter.
Once again the Trojans had a double-digit lead but were unable to hold on. The team didn’t score more than nine points in the final three quarters and were outscored 41-18 to lose 71-62. The Tigers made 21-of-29 free throws to seal the win. Fairchild led Community R-VI with 17 points, six rebounds, and two steals while Hollensteiner added 16 points, two rebounds, and one steal. Jett had 10 points and one rebound; Curtis had eight points, four rebounds, and one steal; Gastler had eight points, two rebounds, and one steal; Graves had three points, four rebounds, one steal, and one block; and Jamie Householder added one rebound and one steal.
Defensively, Gastler had six deflections/tips.
