R-VI track continues to raise bar, break records

The Community R-VI boys and girls track and field teams had several stand-out and record-breaking performances.
In the April 3 meet at Northeast-Cairo, Paige Harris set a new school record in the shot put after heaving her sphere 27’8”.
Caroline Schafer ran the 300-meter low hurdles for the first time in her high school career and set a new school record in 1:08. Schafer also won one heat in another race before falling in later heats.
Leah Mays continued her success in the 400 meters and took fourth in 1:11. Megan Byrd won her heat before falling in later heats.
On the boys side, Nick Jensen tried the long jump for the first time ever and tied the school record after leaping 16’7”. Tyler Mays won a heat before falling in a later heat.
