R-VI softball scores 43 runs during tough stretch

The Community R-VI Lady Trojans had an extremely busy week with five games.
Though they managed to score 43 runs in five games, they finished the tough stretch with just two victories.
On Tuesday, September 11, the Lady Trojans traveled to Slater and left with a 21-0 victory.
Community R-VI scored six runs in the first and added seven in the second, and eight in the third to win the shortened game.
Dalaney Bower tossed a no-hitter and had two strikeouts with six walks.
Offensively, Taren Clark and Emmi Johnson each had two RBIs and two runs scored; Delanie Windmann tallied two RBIs and three runs scored; Natalie Thomas, Sadie Hoyt, and Maddee Gastler each added one RBI and two runs scored; McCailyn Drainer and Bowers each had one RBI and one run scored; Katie Bertels and Deann Brooks each tallied two RBIs and one run scored; Emma Angel scored two runs; while Emily Hoyt and Emma Hombs each scored one run.
Slater’s defense committed seven errors in their loss.
Their second win came three days later as they knocked off Sturgeon on the Lady Bulldogs’ home field, 5-1.
Both teams were tied at 1-1 through three innings before the Lady Trojans scored one in the fourth and two in the fifth.
They added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning to seal the victory behind an 11-hit attack.
Angel led the offense with three hits, two RBIs, and one run scored; Thomas scored two runs; Windmann and Gastler each had one RBI; while Johnson and Bowers each scored one run.
Angel also earned the victory after tossing seven innings and allowing just one earned run on five hits with six strikeouts.
Their first loss of the week came at home to Northeast-Cairo, 9-6.
The Lady Trojans trailed 8-3 through three innings before cutting the lead to three runs but they couldn’t get any closer.
In the loss, Thomas scored two runs while both Windmann and Angel had one RBI and one run scored. Johnson and Drainer each scored one run while Bertels had one RBI.
Angels had the loss on the mound after tossing seven innings and allowing just four earned runs with four strikeouts and five walks. Meanwhile, the Lady Trojans’ defense committed seven errors.
In the Cairo Tournament over the weekend, the Lady Trojans first lost a tough 10-6 game to Macon.
The Lady Trojans held a slim 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Macon had a five-run frame and didn’t look back in their four-run victory.
Offensively, Angel had three RBIs; Thomas scored two runs; Bowers and Johnson each scored one run and had one RBI; Windmann had one RBI; and both Brooks and Gastler scored one run.
Angel earned the loss after tossing six innings and giving up five earned runs on 12 hits with one strikeout and one walk.
Against Wellsville-Middletown, the Lady Trojans led 5-4 before the Lady Tigers scored four runs over the next two innings for the 8-5 win.
The Lady Trojans’ defense had three errors in the loss during the four-inning tournament game.
Bertels had two hits, one RBI, and two runs scored; Angel and Gastler each had one RBI; Thomas and Clark each scored one run; while Windmann had one RBI and one run scored.
Thomas tossed three innings and allowed five earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
Angel tossed one inning and gave up one earned run on three hits with one strikeout.
