The Community R-VI softball team lost a pair of tough contests last week to both Mark Twain and Cairo.
Against the Lady Tigers, the Lady Trojans made four errors while making some other solid defensive plays in the loss.
Mikyla Wagner reached base on an error and added a single; Samm Jett added two singles and scored two runs; Amber Harrison tallied two hits, reached on an error, scored one run, and scored one RBI; Danie Jackson had a sacrifice fly for an RBI and reached base on an error; Tayler Cope reached base on an error; Sam Jackson walked and scored one run; Alissa Curtis had a single; and Sirrina Dunn reached base on a fielders choice and had one RBI.
“We had some very good hits during this game,” said Community R-VI head softball coach Sarah Simmons.
“The girls also played some of the best mental defense that we have played in the two years I have been here as far as knowing where and when to get the advance runner.”
The Lady Trojans also lost a seven inning game to Cairo after committing seven errors.
Curtis, Jett, and Jackson each drew walks; Danielle Brooks had a single; Dunn reached on a fielder’s choice; Harrison had a walk and a single; while Wagner had a single and was hit by a pitch. The Lady Trojans will face Van-Far on October 8 at 6:15 p.m. at home in districts.
