The Community R-VI Trojans remained undefeated in the EMO Conference last week after picking up big victories over both Clopton and Wellsville. The Trojans opened the week with a 43-42 victory over the Hawks. Community R-VI made two big shots at the end of the game to hold on for the slim victory.
“(It was a) well played game,” said Community R-VI head coach Kenneth Jett. “…Both teams missed some key free throws at the end. Tough defense at the end settled the game. (It was a) big win in conference for us.”
The Trojans led 23-18 at halftime before being outscored 24-20 in the second half. Both Lane and Clay Thebeau led the team with 13 points. Conner Brooks added nine points.
The Trojans made 7-of-12 free throws while Clopton made just 4-of-10.
On Homecoming Night, the Trojans jumped out to a 20-8 first quarter lead over rival Wellsville and never looked back in a 69-39 victory. The win moved the Trojans to 3-0 in the conference.
“(We) played well on both ends of the floor first time this year; hopefully a sign of things to come,” Jett said. “Lane Thebeau had one of those nights where he was in the right place all night long. Conner Brooks another outstanding night. Clay Thebeau distributed the ball well all night long. Kyle Curtis took care of the boards like every night and Kaleb Harris played great defense like he does every night.”
Lane Thebeau scored a team-high 25 points while Brooks added 17 points and Curtis had 10 rebounds.
