The Community R-VI Lady Trojans softball team couldn’t have asked for a better start to their 2018 season.
They have outscored two opponents by a combined score of 40-1 to start the season undefeated at 2-0.
In their first game as new members playing in the Central Athletics Conference, the Lady Trojans gave their home fans a lot to cheer for.
They scored 11 runs in the first inning and added 13 more in the second to win the shortened game, 24-0.
Emmi Johnson led Community R-VI with four hits, five RBIs, and two runs scored.
Natalie Thomas added three hits and four runs scored; both Emma Angel and Dalaney Bowers had three RBIs and three runs scored; Deann Brooks and Maddee Gastler tallied two runs scored and one RBI; Delanie Windmann had three runs scored; Taren Clark scored three runs; while Sadie Hoyt had two runs scored.
Angel picked up the win after tossing three innings and allowing no earned runs on one hit with three strikeouts and two walks.
Three days later, Community R-VI traveled to Hermann and left with an impressive 16-1 victory in another three-inning game.
The Lady Trojans scored five runs in the top of the first before plating 11 in the third to end the contest.
Both Johnson and Thomas had three hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored; Windmann added three RBIs and one run scored; Hoyt added two RBIs and three runs scored; Taren Clark, Angel, and Gastler each had two runs scored and one RBI; while both Shelby Clark and Bowers scored one run.
Angel picked up her second win of the season after tossing three innings and allowing one earned run on four hits with six strikeouts.
