R-VI Lady Trojans move to 5-0 in EMO

The No. 9 state-ranked team in Class 1 improved their EMO Conference record to 5-0 last week after picking up victories over Wright City and Elsberry last week.
The Lady Trojans jumped all over Wright City in the first quarter with a 29-point frame to go up 20.
Community R-VI’s defense then held the Lady Wildcats to five points or less in the final three quarters as the Lady Trojans easily picked up a 76-22 win.
“Energy was good tonight,” said Community R-VI head coach Bob Curtis.
“Our press forced a lot of turnovers and we were able to score a lot off of our defense. Lay-ups in transition were key also. We went 6-for-12 from the 3-point line tonight, which is good to see versus the zone looks we are up against.”
Natalie Thomas scored 23 points, six steals, four rebounds, four assists, and two blocks while Dalaney Bowers tallied 17 points, two rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one block.
Alissa Curtis had 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks; Brianna Beamer had seven points, six rebounds, and one steal; Morgan Bryant added seven points and two rebounds; Bethany Schmidt scored six points, three steals, two assists, and one rebound; Lauryn Robnett had two points and one rebound; Kaley Diesel scored one point and one rebound; Taren Clark had four rebounds, four assists, and three steals; Delanie Windmann tallied three rebounds and one assist; Emma Angel had three assists, one steal, and one rebound; Chelsea Hoyt added three steals, one rebound, one steal, and one block; Emmi Johnson had one rebound and one assist; Emily Hoyt had one rebound; and Emma Hombs added one assist, and one steal.
At the end of the week, the Lady Trojans picked up a 52-24 win over Elsberry.
Community R-VI was up 28-19 at halftime before the defense held the Lady Indians to three points or less in each of the final two quarters to win the game by 28.
Thomas led the Lady Trojans with 23 points, six rebounds, six steals, three assists, and one block while Bowers had 18 points, three rebounds, and one steal.
Beamer scored four points and one rebound; Hoyt had two points, five steals, four rebounds, and two assists; Clark scored two points, six assists, five steals, and one rebound; Angel scored two points, one rebound, and one steal; Alissa Curtis tallied one point, seven rebounds, five steals, two assists, and two blocks; Bryant had two steals, one block, and one rebound; and Robnett added one rebound.
