The Community R-VI JV Lady Indians stunned Mexico’s JV squad last week after Karissa Graves hit a game-winning shot at the buzzer for a 27-26 victory.
The Lady Trojans were down by one point with eight seconds left when, after a timeout, Rebecca Hagan passed the ball to Graves in the middle of the lane for the shot at the buzzer.
“The girls were very excited and it was a fun night for our JV team,” said Community R-VI head coach Bob Curtis. “We have spent some time in practice working on late game shots and clock management. The girls did not get nervous in a difficult situation being down one with eight ticks left.”
The Lady Trojans had led 13-7 at halftime before getting a little tired with just six girls in uniform for the game.
Danie Jackson led Community R-VI with six points and three assists. Lexus LaGesse added six points and five rebounds while Graves had five points.
