R-VI hosts Veterans Day event

Community R-VI students during the Pledge of Allegiance in a special Veterans Day service last Friday. The Missouri Military Academy (MMA) participated in the annual event to honor local veterans.

The Community R-VI School District hosted area veterans for a Veterans Day Celebration held on Friday, November 6.
The event began with the Missouri Military Academy, under the direction of 1SG Randal Jackson, presenting the colors.
The “National “Anthem” and “Pledge of Allegiance,” which was led by the 6th Grade Choir, followed before a welcome from Sirrina Dunn.
The High School Choir performed “In Flander’s Field.”
The Middle School Choir performed “Land of the Free.”
A poem written by the 5th grade called “A Veteran Is” was read by Lance Fort and Ivy Hays.
An “Allegiance Rap” followed with the K-6th Grade choirs.
The High School and Middle School Band performed “Hymn to the Fallen.”
Samantha Jett and Courtney Bertels gave a recognition of veterans that preceded MMA’s Flag Folding Ceremony.
“All Glory Told” was performed by the High School and Middle School Band.
Information was presented regarding the Honor Flight fundraiser from Katie Bertels and Taren Clark.
An Art Department presentation followed with “Unsung Heroes” from the K-12th grade choir.
Dunn gave the closing.
