R-VI golfers look for strong season

In spite of losing all three of their 2013 state sectional qualifiers to graduation, the Community R-VI golf program has a lot to be excited about this Spring season.
The Trojans have four returning golfers who have played varsity golf for the district. Each golfer has already experienced some success for the Trojans.
Trever Hoyt, Treyton Kobush, Alex Becker, and Bryan Allen all look to help the Trojans make a push for a district team title this season.
“Treyton will probably play the No. 1 spot and has the potential to break some of the school records,” said Community R-VI head coach Vicki Briggs. “Treyton, a junior, missed making all-district and all-conference last year by one stroke. Trever is already showing a lot of improvement in practice this Spring and will likely play No. 2. Alex Becker and Bryan Allen will play No. 3 and 4.”
Briggs said she’s been happy with the weather so far this year.
“It is really helping us to get ready for the season with much nicer weather for practice than we had last season,” Briggs said. “We are looking forward to a good year on the course.”
The Trojans will begin their season at Silex on March 25 at 3:30 p.m.
They will host their first match at 4 p.m. on April 9 against both Wright City and MMA. The match will be played at the Mexico Country Club. The Trojans will host two other matches before the end of April.
