The Community R-VI golf program opens the 2012 season with the highest expectations in school history with 16 golfers featuring a mix of experience and potential.
“This is the best turn out for golf that we have ever had,” said Community R-VI golf coach Vicki Briggs.
“It is exciting to see so many kids wanting to play and working hard to improve. We are very grateful for the support of the parents and community, and especially the Mexico Country Club for allowing us to use their course and giving us so much support.”
This year’s squad has seven returners from a season ago when they lost no golfers to graduation.
The group includes senior Aaron Fairchild; juniors Caleb Bertels, Sean Wilson, Chris Wieberg, Mason Sims, and Keith Caldwell; along with sophomore Alex Becker.
Briggs said she expects Fairchild, Bertels, Wilson, and Wieberg to be battling for the top four spots on the squad.
