The Community R-VI baseball team ended a recent losing skid after knocking off Sturgeon, 8-6.
The Trojans led 7-0 through two innings before a late Bulldogs’ rally with four runs in the sixth cut the lead to just one run.
Community R-VI added one insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning to seal the win.
Tim Hunn hit a three-run home run in the first for the Trojans.
He finished the game with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Both Levi Rafferty and Evan Hartsock were the top two hitters in the lineup.
They both had three hits, two runs scored, and one RBI.
Justin Duenke added two runs scored.
Hartsock tossed five innings on the mound after allowed four earned runs on six hits with nine strikeouts and three walks.
Hunter Houghton held on later as he tossed two shutout innings of relief. He also gave up two hits, with one being a home run, and added five strikeouts.
The Trojans then lost a disappointing 15-4 game to Silex.
The Owls had eight runs in the second inning and never looked back as their offense finished with 11 hits.
Offensively, Rafferty led the Trojans with two hits and two RBIs.
Klayton Bosworth scored two runs; Duenke had one RBI and one run scored; Landon Wright had one RBI; and Houghton scored one run.
Nathan Gastler tossed one inning off the mound and allowed three earned runs on three hits with one strikeout and three walks.
Braedon Swaim went one third of an inning and allowed three earned runs on one hit with two walks.
Houghton tossed three and two thirds innings and allowed four earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
The Trojans ended the week with a 14-1 loss to rival Wellsville-Middletown.
