R-VI baseball crushes Slater

Community R-VI’s Matt Gastler had five RBIs to lift the Trojans’ baseball team over Slater, 15-4, over the weekend.
In the four-inning, 13-hit attack, the Trojans scored five runs in each of the final two innings to pull out the home victory.
Gastler’s first inning, two-RBI double put Community R-VI up 2-0 in the first inning.
After Slater tied the game in their second at-bat, the Trojans answered with three runs.
Nathan Gastler scored on Levi Rafferty’s fielder’s choice before Gastler added a second two-RBI double. This time, he knocked in Evan Hartsock and Eric Hombs.
In a five-run, third inning, Hartsock’s RBI single scored Avery Carline.
Cordell Hollensteiner was hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded to score Hombs.
Gastler then picked up his fifth RBI with an RBI single scoring Hartsock.
Phillip Doms added an RBI single, scoring Rafferty.
Hunter Houghton followed with an RBI single to score Hollensteiner.
Community R-VI added five more runs in the fourth inning. Hollensteiner had a two-RBI single to score Rafferty and Hartsock.
Doms then knocked in Hollensteiner with an RBI single before scoring on a walk.
Hombs then drew a walk for the final run scored as Houghton crossed the plate.
Matt Gastler went 3-for-4 with five RBIs; Doms went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored; Hartsock went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and one RBI; Rafferty was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI; Hollensteiner went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs scored; Houghton had one RBI and one run scored; Nathan Gastler added one RBI and one run scored; Carline had three walks and scored one run; Hombs had two runs scored and one RBI; and Josh Atkinson scored one run.
Hollensteiner picked up the win on the mound after tossing four innings and allowing four earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.
Loss to rival Van-Far
In a match-up with rival Van-Far, Trojans’ pitchers had 11 walks in a disappointing 11-1 loss.
Van-Far scored at least two runs in four of the five innings to win the game on just seven hits.
Matt Gastler picked up the loss after allowing three earned runs in 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts and four walks. Houghton allowed three earned runs with two strikeouts and two walks while Carline allowed three earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts and five walks. Hartsock tossed a 1/3 inning and allowed no runs and one hit.
Community R-VI scored their lone run when Doms had an RBI single to score Damion Eckler.
Matt Gastler and Rafferty each had hits as well.
Falling to Canton
The Trojans ran into a tough Canton squad as well over the weekend and lost 16-2 after pitchers gave up 11 hits and walked eight batters.
Houghton allowed four earned runs and just one hit; Hartsock allowed one earned run with one strikeout in two innings; and Nathan Gastler allowed nine earned runs, three strikeouts, and four walks over three innings on the mound.
The Trojans scored their two runs in the third inning as Rafferty had a two-RBI double that scored Nathan Gastler and Hartsock.
Nathan Gaslter finished with two hits and Doms added yet another hit.
