Area residents will be heading to Vandalia this Saturday for the annual Prairie Days event organized by the Vandalia Area Chamber of Commerce.
The two headlining acts on the Main Stage include Clark Manson at 6 p.m. followed by Adam Doleac at 8 p.m.
Manson, age 25, has aspirations of being a George Strait in the country music business.
The now Nashville, Tenn. resident had his independent album “Runnin’ With The Night’ appear on Billboard’s Top 5 Heatseeker Chart.
His “I’m On It” EP made the Top 10 on iTunes Country.
In 2015, he was the 2015 TouchTunes Breakout Band winner with help of his single “Track 9.” It was featured on the Spotify “New Boots”playlist.
He plays about 150 shows a year.
Doleac first learned how to play the guitar while hanging out with guitar players on his Southern Mississippi baseball team. This was a team that made the College World Series in 2009 and won three Conference USA titles.
He wrote his first song the next year and added four more while still playing college baseball.
He had more than 1,000 people show up for a CD release party in his hometown of Hattiesburg, Miss.
After signing with a manager in 2015, he’s played nearly 400 shows during the last two years and has written around 200 songs.
Some of his hits have been performed by Kane Brown and Darius Rucker.
Those putting holds on some of his compositions include Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Justin Moore, and David Nail.
Doleac released a self-titled debut EP on June 16 that was recorded in Nashville, Tenn. and produced by Lindsay Rimes.
It includes his single “Whiskey’s Fine.”
Magician Joe Cole, the brother of Dr. Michael Cole, is set to entertain those in attendance yet again this year. at 5 p.m. on the Main Stage.
His fun show mixes magic and audience participation.
Other performers include “Darin Epperson and A Side of Country” at 3 p.m. on the Main Stage and local group “The Inspirations” will be on the Small Stage at 1 p.m.
The full schedule begins with a 7:30 a.m. registration for an 8 a.m. 5K/10K race, sponsored by the Vandalia YMCA.
Registration for the Baby Show and Little Mr./Little Miss Contest is at 8:30 a.m. with the two shows following back-to-back starting at 9 a.m. Destiny Willis is the chairperson.
Craft vendors then open at 10 a.m. and Dr. Cole with his wife Leila are the chairpersons.
Line-up starts at 10:15 a.m. at South School for the 11 a.m. parade.
At noon, the Motorcycle Show and Antique Tractor Showcase begins under the direction of Chairperson Mike Culwell.
Also at noon, the Vandalia Area Historical Society’s Corn Husking Contest starts on the Small Stage.
A Kids Carnival opens at 12:30 p.m. and lasts through 4:30 p.m.
A Washer Tournament, with Chairperson Derek Kuda, begins at 2 p.m.
A volleyball event starts at 2:30 p.m., though registration is at 2 p.m.
At 5:30 p.m., a Car Cruise is being sponsored by Kuda’s Auto Repair.
