Picton arrested on drug charges

The East Central  Drug Task Force arrested a former Vandalia man on three class C felony charges on a November 14 narcotics search warrant at 126 North Alabama Street in Mexico, Mo.
According to the probable cause statement, Charles F. Picton, age 40, of Mexico, was arrested on charges of attempted distribution of a controlled substance when officers located scales, plastic bags, and small packages of marijuana.
Picton was charged also with possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
According to the probable cause statement, officers found a small baggy containing a white powder, which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Also during the search, officers found two empty pen barrels containing what also  tested positive for methamphetamine
The final charge on Picton was unlawful possession of a firearm, a Remington rifle, as Picton is a convicted felon and can not possess a firearm of any type.
The search warrant was executed by deputies from the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Picton faces a term of up to seven years or a term of up to one year in county jail and/or a fine of $5,000.
