PHYLIP DOMING “P.D.” REID

Phylip Doming “P.D.” Reid, 78, of rural Middletown, passed away at 10:05 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at his home.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, January 19 at the Myers Funeral Home in Middletown.
Burial took place in the Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown, Missouri.
Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons, Lee Oliver, Tyler Oliver, Doug Pickerell, Will Pickerell, Phillip Reid, and Jarrett Schipper. The honorary pallbearer was Jamie Wheeler.
Visitation was held from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, January 18 at the funeral home.
Phylip Doming “P.D.” Reid was born June 16, 1936, in Annada, Missouri, a son of Wilmer Handy Reed Sr. and Loretta Luck Reid.
He served his country in the United States Air Force.
On June 25, 1955, in Montgomery City, Missouri, he married Shirley E. Bourland. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2011
P.D. had lived in the Middletown area most of his life and at his current residence since 1986.
From 1975–2000, P.D and Shirley owned Cuivre Enterprise Pallet Mill in Gazette.  They made wood pallets and crates out of lumber that they logged. The crates were shipped overseas and their pallets were used by companies such as Harbison Walker, True Manufacturing and Christy Minerals.
P.D. had also worked at Harbison Walker for over 30 years running a computer machine and a hammer mill.  P.D. farmed for many years and did some custom baling.
P.D. and Shirley loved to dance. They along with friends, taught some of the local kids how to waltz and swing dance.  P.D. enjoyed visiting with friends and getting the daily news at the coffee shop. More than anything, P.D. loved spending time with his family, they were the light of his life.
P.D. is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wilmer Bradley Reid and wife, Beverly, of Mexico; daughters, Leah Faye Schipper, of Hannibal, and Carie Beth Pickerell and husband, David, of Montgomery City; grandchildren, Phillip Bradley Reid, of Mexico, Rachael Nichole Reid, of Orange Park, Florida, Jaclyn Amanda Schipper, of Kirksville, Jarrett Alan Schipper, of Hannibal, Tyler Ray and Danielle Oliver, of Fort Leonard Wood, Lee Brett Oliver, of Montgomery City, Erin Malyn Oliver, of Montgomery City, Douglas Jesse and Whitney Pickerell, of Columbia and William Jesse Pickerell, of Memphis; great-grandsons, Elliot Ray Oliver and Dylan Oliver, of Fort Leonard Wood; sister and brother-in-law, Madeline E. and Arnold Lund, of Colfax, California and sisters-in-law, Jean Tagg, of Shelbyville, Illinois, Awilda Reed, of Brooksville, Florida, Madilene Huff, of Granite City, Illinois and Dianna Gunn, of Kent, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley E. Reid; father, Wilmer H. Reid Sr.; mother and step-father, Loretta and Richard Hill and brothers, LaFrancis “Buck” Tagg, Billie L. Reed, Wilmer Handy “Buzz” Reed, Jr. and George Richard Hill.
