Forrest Charles (Pete) Oberhaus, age 71, of Vandalia passed away Friday July 6, 2012 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday July 10, 2012 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Rev. Dick Hinson officiating. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Middletown. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at the funeral home.
Pete was born February 26, 1941 in Eureka, the son of William and Charlotte Myrtle (Lottie) Breazeale Oberhaus. Survivors include one daughter, Kristina (Mark) Bair of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, Cresswell Charles Bair, Joseph William Bair, Scott (Connie) Bair, Christy Lazear, Mark (Misty) Bair, Cindy (Charlie) Spires; seven great grandchildren; four sisters, Ann (Harold) Todd of Wellsville, Mayme Specht of Ariz., Janet (John) Penker of Ohio, Ginny (Marion) Lovelace of N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Diane Oberhaus Grote; four brothers, Raymond (Baldy), Dick, Mike and William (Buck) Oberhaus; and four sisters, Dorothy Andrews, Charlotte Birmingham, Betty Oberhaus and Janice Oberhaus.
He lived most of his life in the Middletown area where he worked as a carpenter and was a grain and livestock farmer. He was a Baptist by Faith and enjoyed hunting, riding horses but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Serving as pallbearers were Charlie Oberhaus, Keith Pease, Dennis Schwab, Kevin Welch, Terry Pritchett and Dave Oberhaus. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Cresswell Bair and Joseph Bair.
