Patsy Sue Maxwell, age 92, formerly of Vandalia, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015, in Liberty, Missouri.
A graveside service was held at the Vandalia Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015, with the Rev. Bob Hoehn officiating.
Patsy was born on September 18, 1922 in Curryville, Missouri, the daughter of Forest and Janice Bratcher Brown. She married Elvin C. Maxwell on April 24, 1949, who survives.
Other survivors include her daughter Linda S. Jones and son-in-law Larry D. Jones, of Kansas City; three grandchildren, Ken (Sheryl) Jones, of Austin, Texas; Doug (Gina) Jones, of Kansas City; and Beth (Ted) Hopkins, of Milan, Michigan; eight great-grandchildren, Rylie, Skyler and Grady Jones, of Austin, Texas; Logan, Zoe, and Olivia Jones, of Kansas City; and Thomas and Emilia Hopkins, of Milan, Michigan; and one brother, Cleo F. Brown, of Columbia, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Nelson Brown.
She was a homemaker and the cafeteria supervisor at the elementary school for a number of years.
Patsy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a servant’s heart who gave of herself to all she knew. Few memories exist where she wasn’t doing something for someone—family, friends or strangers. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, reading and gardening.
