The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) recently did some patch work both on Highway 54 as well as on Main St. in Vandalia this past week.
Work began on the two roads last week before some improvements were made to the work on Monday, June 12.
While the patch work covers portions of each road, the parking areas are left untouched as they are reportedly the City of Vandalia’s responsibility.
Marisa Ellison, MoDOT Director of Communications for the Northeast District, said a striper will line the patched areas soon, though no scheduled date has officially been set as of press time.
Some concerns have been expressed by area residents to “The Vandalia Leader” regarding the work.
Concerns include edging of the patch work and its affect on the parking spots, problems with the appearance of the overall project, and tar marks from tires left on adjacent streets.
