Community R-VI Parents as Teachers Group Connections meeting featured Dr. Colleen Neale, of the Audrain Veterinary Clinic, presenting a program about responsible pet care.
Neale talked to the children about things to consider when choosing a pet, feeding and watering, and taking care of your pet’s health.
The highlight of the evening for the children was getting to listen to the heart beat and tummy sounds of the doctor’s yellow lab.
Neale answered questions the children had about caring for their pets. Activities included making a pet booklet, coloring pages, and making dog puppets. Winner of the grand prize, dog food donated by Ryan Bailey, MFA Agri Services of Laddonia, was Jude Curtis.
Our next Group Connections meeting is 6-7 p.m. on March 19 and will feature speaker Nathan Carroz, Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney.
Carroz will meet with parents in the library to discuss the importance of having a will or trust, and advanced directives for health care. Both parents are encouraged to attend this event. There will be handouts about Missouri Probate Law and copies of the advanced health care form will be available to all in attendance.
Carroz will answer questions at the conclusion of his presentation. The children will have games and activities in the cafeteria during the meeting.
