Options for Women held their monthly meeting on May 14 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in
St. Clement. Following a prayer, the meeting was called to order by temporary president Christopher Hummel.
Options for Women Steering Committee met on April 30. At that time temporary officers were elected. Christopher Hummel was elected president; Mary Oberman was elected vice-president; Mary Nell Brueggen was elected secretary; Jeanine Goddard was elected treasurer, and Carie Capps was
elected assistant treasurer.
Options for Women has been approved for a 50lc3 status. The next step will be to submit a form 1023 to the IRS to obtain a tax-exempt status. The organization will soon be opening a bank account.
Oberman, Capps, and Shelly Knacke reported that the Walk for Life on May 9 was a
success. There are some t-shirts left over from the event and are available for purchase from Michelle Knacke.
Chub Miller reported that the St. Clement Knights of Columbus baby bottle campaign has ended. He said that each bottle averaged $24 and that 198 bottles had been returned. There are still some
bottles that have not been returned. Anyone having one of those bottles should turn it in so that the bottles can be sent to another church.
The group is beginning to look at possible sites for the pregnancy center. Paulette Bruch asked for volunteers to meet her to look at a potential site.
The next scheduled meeting for Options for Women will be June 11 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in St. Clement at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in promoting the center or just learning about the project is encouraged to attend. This is a community effort and new ideas are valued. The support for this venture is truly inspirational.
