New Harmony to honor veterans

Posted on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 2:21 am

Veterans will be honored in a memorial service to be held on the cemetery grounds at New Harmony Christian Church on Sunday, June 3 at 1 p.m.  Veterans from the Civil War, Spanish American War, World Wars I and II, Korean War, and Vietnam Conflict are buried at New Harmony and will have their graves decorated with the American flag during the Memorial Weekend through the memorial service.  The VFW Post from Bowling Green will participate in this special service.
The Cemetery Association will hold their meeting at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 3, and a carry-in dinner will follow at 12:15 p.m.  All are welcome.
Donations for upkeep of the cemetery grounds may be sent to Marion Branstetter, 6219 Pike 9, Frankford, Mo. 63441.
A generous monetary donation has been sent to Church World Service for their Blankets+ Program. This program gives hope and resources to people in crisis.  The love offerings received at the “Gospel to Chew On” events and donations from church members were combined and sent to this mission program.
Plans are underway for a weekend Vacation Bible School to be held in July.  More information will be forthcoming.
The Youth Group continues to meet two Sundays each month.  All youth are invited to attend.
