A pickup truck crashed through the front of the now former Pizza Hut business on Highway 54 in Vandalia last week.

One day after Pizza Hut closed in Vandalia, a new drive thru opened but not voluntarily.
At around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, the tires reportedly locked up on a pickup driven by Aaron Williams, of Poplar Bluff.
He lost control of the vehicle and eventually crashed into the window area on the front side of the building facing Highway 54.
Williams, who had one passenger with him, was later issued a summons for careless and imprudent driving.
The Vandalia Fire Department was called to the scene for safety concerns referring to gas coming from the vehicle. A tow truck removed the vehicle and the damaged area has since been boarded up.
Vandalia Police Chief Christopher Hammann was first on the scene of the accident.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
