Two Mondays ago, the City of Laddonia’s Board of Aldermen held their first monthly board meeting at their new City Hall location.
The meeting was held inside the building where the former Central Bank of Audrain County last served customers just off Highway 54 in Laddonia across from Casey’s.
Central Bank of Audrain County closed their Laddonia branch last year and donated the building to the City, with a closing date in late October. City Clerk Sabrina Hays said many items were moved from the Laddonia Community Building to the new City Hall in November as office hours began on Monday, November 30.
The wall dividers have been removed in the main lobby area.
Currently, the City Clerk and City Treasurer have offices with doors.
Plans are in place for the City Clerk to begin serving customers from behind the bank teller counter in the near future.
An office will also be established for the City Mayor.
The old bank drive thru now has an easy access drop box for residents to pay their water bills.
“So folks can make a payment and they don’t even have to get out of their car,” Hays said.
Laddonia memorabilia will soon be on display on glass shelving, which will include centennial items and more.
Laddonia Police Chief Shawn Puls is still in the Community Building but there are plans for his new office to be inside the old bank vault.
Hays said many Laddonia residents have enjoyed the new City Hall.
“The biggest compliment I’ve gotten for the city is it’s a good location and really convenient,” Hays added.
