Naomi Marie Adamson, age 85, most recently of Vandalia, Missouri, passed away January 14, 2015.
She was born June 24, 1929 in the township of Edgington, Rock Island County to Park and Lottie Oak. She married the Rev. Ralph W. Adamson on June 12, 1953 at the Edgington Presbyterian Church and they served Presbyterian Churches PCUSA in Sherard, Illinois; Adair, Iowa; Tipton, Iowa; Bushnell, Illinois; Camp Wyoming, Iowa; Vandalia, Missouri; Osawatomie, Kansas; and Mt. Sterling, Illinois.
Ralph and Naomi had four children: Ann (Steve) Trower, of Germantown Hills, Illinois; Ralph (Cathy) Adamson, of LaGrange, Illinois; Ruth (Bill) Nation, of Vandalia, Missouri; and John (Pam) Adamson, of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Ralph and Naomi also had nine grandchildren: Rachel, Matthew (Michelle), Lindsey, Melissa, Meg, Christopher, Elisabeth, Jasmine, and Mari.
Naomi grew up on a farm near Edgington, Illinois and developed a lifelong love of gardening and cooking.
She graduated from the University of Dubuque in Iowa with a BA in Christian Education and a minor in Music. She had a beautiful singing voice and was always a member of a choir including the Quincy Philharmonic Choral.
She was active in Church Women United and Presbyterian Women PW serving on local and national levels. She was especially proud to be an elder in the Presbyterian Church PCUSA.
Naomi will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday February 14, 2015 with visitation at 1 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia, Missouri.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vandalia Recreation Corporation which is raising funds for a new library/YMCA in Vandalia, Missouri.
