MyNEMO contest to build pride in younger generation

In the spirit of the holiday season 10th District State Representative Jay Houghton is pleased to announce the MyNEMO Essay Contest.
The purpose of the essay contest is to encourage the youth of District 10 to think on and appreciate their rural Northeast Missouri roots.
The essay, of no more than 800 words, should explain what the student feels defines Northeast Missouri and why they are proud to call it home.
There will be three winners (first, second, and third place) in each age category (Elementary—K – 3rd grade, Middle School–4th – 8th grade, High School–9th – 12th grade, and College—ages 18-23).
Each winner will receive a Missouri State Flag that has been officially flown over the Missouri State Capitol, and an invitation to come to Jefferson City and receive a special tour given by Representative Houghton.
The tour will include Houghton’s favorite aspects of the Capitol.
Essay should be sent to Representative Houghton’s office by e-mail at, or by mail to Representative Jay Houghton, 201 West Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, Mo., 65101.
They must be postmarked by February 1, 2012, and should include the youth’s name, age, category, current school, address, and parent’s names.
