Vandalia area residents are encouraged to take a walk down memory lane during any weekend this summer at the Vandalia Area Historical Society Museum located on Main St. An array of museum exhibits include a look at the old Vandalia train depots, a Dr. Rex Carter display, a Van-Far band exhibit, a military uniform dating back to WWI, an 1894 wedding dress, displays for both the DAR and Chapter CE P.E.O, a tribute to farmers of yesterday, clothing made of horsehide, along with tributes to a variety of past businesses.
The museum offers a great opportunity for family members, young and old, to educate themselves on the area’s history.
The Vandalia Area Historical Society Museum is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and on Sundays from noon- 3 p.m.
