Moore Happening

The Moore Happening was held Saturday, Aug. 9,  at the New Harmony Christian Church near Curryville.
The Moore Happening started in August 1981 when family members arrived at the farm home of Calvin and Alma Lea Moore bringing campers, tents, food, and games. They arrived on Friday and stayed until late Sunday. There were lots of games played, stories told and much laughter and visiting. Several years later it was moved to the church were it is still held. There is the usual ham and fried chicken and lots more with plenty of desserts.
Among those attending were; Wanda (Moore) Holcumbrink from Curryville, Linda James of Vandalia, Mary Ellen and Kitson Holcumbrink of Mexico; Deborah Kraft and Frankie Branstetter, of Curryville, Marion and Jackie Branstetter, Rachel, Abby, Lexi and Mara Robb, of Frankford; John and Vicky Moore, of Auxvasse, Penny Smith of Mexico, Matthew Smith and Elizabeth Gower, of Columbia; and Sarah Smith, of Maryville; Dave and Sue (Moore) Davis of Kirksvile and Ashley Thompson, of Vandalia; Kay (Moore) Willis, of Mexico; Keith Dooley of Odessa, Allison Dooley and Donald Schneider, from O’Fallon; R.E. and Jennie Moore, of Liberty; Janie Thomas and Larry Wheeler, of Vandalia and Pam Williams, from Bowling Green.
Again there was much visiting and laughter and some brought old family collectables and pictures to show and to share.
