The Monday Study Club met November 24 at the United Methodist Church, in Vandalia. President Donna DeTienne led in the pledges to the American and Christian flags. The devotional was given by Kay Reading. Corresponding Secretary Jackie Marshall reported that Thanksgiving cards were sent to members who are residing at Tri-County Care Center. Also, a get-well card was sent for Deedie Reading.
Secretary Jackie Marshall led the roll call answered by nine members using the word “walk” in scripture.
Hostess Beverly Largent gave the “Duty” from a book by Warren W. Wiersbe called “Be Daring.” She also led the 20 questions about the lesson found in Acts 18:23-19:41 regarding the second part of Paul’s journey, preaching Jesus the risen Lord of the new covenant.
The Special Study was given by Jackie Marshall from “The Upper Room” entitled, “A Great Day” about a young man, who chose to face Lou Gehrig’s Disease by placing his faith in Christ who brought joy to his life, he would therefore let others see his joy. The meeting came to a close with everyone repeating the Club Collect. Those present were Donna DeTienne, Ann Foreman, Val Galloway, Beverly Largent, Jackie Marshall, Kay Reading, Doris Ray, Donna Tillman, and Edna Mae Wallace.
